The painting depicts a later descendant of one of the first unforeseen creatures that emerged within the simulation of the Last War.

Its ancestors lived in shallow lakes. When the water began to recede, a soft growth appeared on their bodies. At first, it had no apparent purpose. Gradually, however, it transformed into a sixth limb and subsequently into a sac, in which the creatures were able to store water during their long journeys across the planet’s drying surface.

Evolution did not end there.

After many generations, the sac transformed into a resonant organ. The creature would press it against the ground and send deep vibrations into it. Its descendants were thus able to communicate across the entire lowlands, warn one another of danger, and pass on their experiences through the soil itself.

The dark part of the image represents the creature’s body, which almost blends into the landscape.

The green and metallic-looking areas depict the planet’s surface. The engraved lines are not merely the structure of the earth; they are traces of its song, which spreads beneath the surface and returns transformed by the responses of other beings.

No one had conceived of this ability. It was not part of any prediction and had no predetermined purpose.

That is precisely why it was real.

The moment Nara first detected its song, she realized that what she was looking at was no longer just a computational model.

The simulation had become a world. And the planet’s surface had become a language.
