I have registered but cannot sign in to my account?

Have you confirmed your registration by clicking the link in the confirmation email our system sent to your email address? If the email has not arrived within 5 minutes, please check your spam folder. If you cannot find it there either, contact us at info@originalgallery.com with the details and we will look into it.

How do I add an artwork to my gallery?

In the top right corner of the page you will find the name you registered under. Click on it and your personal page will open, where you can add and edit your artworks as well as your personal details. Alternatively, in the footer, both the section for buyers and the section for artists contain an “Account settings” link.

Why are the price differences between artworks often so large? How are prices set?

Each artist sets the price of their own works themselves. If they are unsure, they can ask for our assessment.
Pricing works of art is generally a very complex matter. The price is influenced by many factors, from the quality of the work, its uniqueness and the name and renown of the artist, through to the technique, dimensions and durability of the materials.

As an emerging artist, do I need a trade licence to exhibit or sell on Original Gallery?

You most certainly do not need a trade licence. It is your own creative work, your intellectual property, and no such permit is required for that.

How long will it take for my artwork to appear on the Original Gallery website?

Every artwork an artist uploads to their gallery first goes through an approval process, which takes a matter of hours — no more than 24 hours from upload. Once approved, the work is displayed on the Original Gallery website immediately. If it is for sale with a stated price, it is also automatically featured on the homepage, where it remains until newer additions push it aside.

Can I trust the photographs of the exhibited works?

All works are photographed by the artists themselves; nowadays, with a digital camera built into most mobile phones, photographing your own work this way is common practice. It is important to add, however, that the colours you see may be affected by the quality and settings of your computer monitor, the lighting conditions and the environment in which the work was photographed — things we ourselves cannot influence. You will find more about photography in the footer under FOR ARTISTS, or click on “How to photograph your artwork”.

I live in Slovakia and want to exhibit on Original Gallery. What is different?

Artists from abroad are welcome to exhibit and sell on Original Gallery. The differences lie in the transport of artworks and in bank charges — both are more expensive for artists and collectors from abroad.

Is it better to upload an artwork with its surroundings or just the artwork itself?

It is always better to edit the image (especially of a painting) so that only the artwork itself is visible. Any additional surroundings are distracting and reduce the space available for the viewer. Editing tools are very simple these days, so it pays to think about how you present your work.

How can I increase the chances of selling my exhibited artwork?

Our analyses of how Original Gallery works show that the most viewed works are those that stay on the homepage the longest, i.e. those in the FAVOURITES section. Share the address of your virtual gallery (you will find it, for example, in your profile at the top right) or a link to a specific work on your social media.
Another factor is stories — stories sell. Give careful thought to the description of your work: why and when it was created, what you want to say with it, and so on. Works “with a story” attract more interest.

Delivery

How long will I wait for the artwork I have ordered?

We aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible; within 15 working days of receiving payment at the latest, the artwork can be collected in person or sent at your own expense to the address you provide.

The planned delivery time does not suit me — can I change it?

Of course — just contact us. If it is at all possible, we will accommodate you.

The artwork is damaged — what should I do?

Every artwork passes our inspection, yet damage can still occur on its way to you. Carriers do their utmost to secure the shipment, but the human factor remains. If something is wrong with the artwork upon delivery, do not accept it! The carrier you have chosen is liable for the safety of the transport, and any damage must be reported to them without delay.
Works of art must be stored in favourable conditions, free of extreme temperatures or significant fluctuations in temperature and humidity (e.g. a bathroom).
